A Perfect Day! A Perfect Installation!
Thanks to Phil, Steve, Hoot Bob Craig and Rick for the most able assistance in installing the dual band antenna at the Sheriff’s Office for emergency use. Phil, W8PSK did the tower climbing and everyone else pitched in to run the coax to the entry point. We have a dedicated radio and power supply ready to install when the Sheriff directs us to do so.
Thanks again to all members for your continued support. Please don’t forget our planned Simulated Emergency Training planned for late September. More info to follow.

Ham radio and Katrina
This story at NPR describes some of the work that amateur radio operators are doing to help with communications traffic in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. SATERN is busy with health and welfare traffic. ARRL has a short listing of other efforts, including work by ARES chapters in Louisiana and Mississippi.
ARRL is also maintaining a database of volunteers who are willing to support relief and rescue operations. See details or sign up here.
