Monthly meeting change

In the interest of constant improvement and after carefully reviewing feedback from our members, the Wood County ARES leadership team has decided to make a change with regard to the timing of our monthly meetings held at the Wood County Sheriff's Office.

As you all know the monthly meeting is currently scheduled for the 4th Saturday of each month at 9AM. This conflicts for several people who would like to participate in both the Wood County ARES meeting as well as the Lucas County ARES meetings also held the 4th Saturday of each month.

Therefore after reviewing our options along with reviewing the availability of the meeting facilities as well as in the spirit of cooperation with our neighbors we've decided to make a permanent change to the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9AM. This change will become effective immediately so the meeting that was previously rescheduled to this Saturday, July 2nd is CANCELLED. The next meeting will be on our new date, July 9th at the normal time of 9AM at the Wood County Sheriff's Office on Gypsy Lane in Bowling Green.

I'd like to thank the Wood County Sheriff and fellow Ham, Mark Wasylyshyn, KD8BOI, for his continuing support of this effort by his participation as well as for allowing us to use his meeting room. This is very much appreciated and has contributed greatly to the success of the Wood County ARES group.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Meeting Date Changed

After much discussion, we have decided that the second Saturday of each month may be a better meeting day than the 4th Saturday. Our first meeting on this schedule will be on July 9th and every 2nd Saturday of each month thereafter. The meeting place is still The Wood County Sheriff’s Office at 9:00 AM. I hope this causes no inconvenience for any one of us and I hope to see you there.

Meeting Postponed Until July 2, 2005

Our regular meeting on the fourth Saturday has been moved to July 2, 2005 because of conflicts with several events being held in Wood County and the annual Field Day activities in which several of our members will be engaged. The rescheduled meeting will still be held at 9:00 AM at the Wood County Sheriff's Office and I've got excellent and exciting news to share with all of you.
Thanks!

Mike McAleer took the Technician test last Saturday and passed with only three misses. Congrats to Mike and welcome to a great hobby and fraternity.

Temporary tone test

While our repeater controller is at the body and fender shop, we’d like to try a test of using an access tone for the repeater. This may help cut down on some of the accidental transmissions we’ve occasionally been having. In addition, we want the ability to turn on tone for actual emergencies for the same reason, and it’s best to practice with it.

Accordingly, effective this morning, we’ll be setting a 103.5 access tone and keeping it there for 7 days. This will mean that tone will be enabled during our regular Tuesday night training net. Please adjust your radios accordingly, and let one of the WCARES AECs know if you’re having trouble getting in. Once we get the repeater controller back in place, we’ll figure out a more formal system (possibly including repeater announcements) to indicate when tone is required to get in.
